Many people confuse termites with ants and think that flying ants are termites. They even call white ants or flying ants. This is actually wrong. Termites belong to cockroaches (Isoptera), but they are closely related to cockroaches, while ants belong to Hymenoptera and Lepidoptera.
There are three major differences in the appearance of termites and ants
1. Different antennae. The antennae of termites are rosary, and the antennae of ants are knee mounted.
2. The wings are different. The four wings of termites are equal in size, while the front and back wings of winged ants are different in size.
3. The waist is different. The width of the junction between the thorax and abdomen of termites changed little, but there were obvious thin waist nodes between the chest and abdomen of termites.
